The World Bank

Let me welcome you to the Future Leaders' e-conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), For all of us, this is an exciting, complex, and challenging e-leaming experience.
The World Bank has learned that there is no equitable development without giving voice to all members of society including youth. Young people usually have no representation and no conduit for reaching those in power. They cannot convey their needs and dreams to the decision makers who are determining their future, the future of the next generation.
You - young people from all over the world - will spend the next six weeks debating various CSR issues closely linked to a broader development agenda, such as poverty alleviation, quality education, community driven development, bridging the digital divide, fighting HIV/AIDS and corruption. Personally, I am interested in all these issues and I look forward to hearing your views, not only on these subjects but on other issues which are closely interconnected.
I look forward to your recommendations on how, working together, we can make a difference on each of these-many significant matters and I can assure you that we will explore several channels to share your views with key decision makers from the public and private sector.
Thank you for taking part in this important event. I hope you enjoy the conference.
